This is one of my favorite episodes.Max finds some sweet bling at recess, and Finley has to talk some sense into him.
Pretty much every episode I wrote for Finley & Max, I wanted to put stuff in it that really had happened to me or stuff that I knew kids could maybe relate to. When I was 8, I lost my Decepticon Soundwave at recess. And the next day, my friend just happened to find a Decepticon Soundwave on the playground. Coincidence? Man. That sucked.
This episode also is a great example how I reference the full Max and Fin universe of characters in the dialog, (i.e. Mrs. Flamingo, their teacher). This is a way to create a rich world off-camera for our limited ability to have characters on screen.
One last note: The test audiences laughed hysterically in the first pilot episode at Finley saying “Noooooo, Maaaaaax”, so we tried to utilize the catchphrase whenever possible.
